Announcement : vBulletin Security Patch for vBulletin 4

A recent vBulletin 4 (all versions, Suite & Classic) report indicated that if an installation had been hacked previously, the attacker could hide malicious code to allow a repeated attack. To further strengthen vBulletin’s security – additional security checking and query cleaning were added to thwart such attacks.

The issue does not affect vBulletin 3.x.

To improve the security of your vBulletin 4 installation please download the patch from the members area of vBulletin: http://members.vbulletin.com/
We recommend you install this security patch as soon as possible.

The upgrade process is the same as previous patch level releases – simply download the patch from the Members’ Area, extract the files and upload to your webserver, overwriting the existing files. There is no upgrade script required.

How To Install SQL Server 2008 Express with Advanced Services

A Step by Step guide to installing SQL Server 2008 simply and successfully with no prior knowledge.

Before you start the installation, you’ll need to install the .Net 3.5 Framework

After you download the file, you’ll need to launch the program from the following dialog. Click the Run button to continue.

 

 

 

 

 

 

The next screen requests you accept the license agreement. Please make sure you do that or you could run into trouble later on if you violate the EULA. Click the Accept button to continue.


The installation will start and then you get to wait. It is at this point that the installer will examine and patch your operating system. While you think you’re up-to-date, you’ll probably see a couple patches applied before the real installation starts.


After you start the installation, you’ll see this dialog. It’ll even reappear after completing the install, and ultimately you may need to click the Cancel button. You don’t have to worry at that point because it’ll be installed.


After you’ve started, this is the dialog you’ll get after applying operating system patches. You’ve really no choice but to reboot if you want to install SQL Server 2008 Express successfully.


This is the first installation screen. Make sure you select the correct version of SQL Server 2008 Express. Typically, you’ll want the one with Advanced Services. Click the appropriate radio button, and then the Install button.


When you see this dialog, you’re installation has truly begun. Don’t click the Cancel button now.


The file extraction takes several minutes. Have something ready while you wait or take a break.

 

 

 

After the file extraction, you’ll see the SQL Server 2008 Setup Support Rules dialog. Click the OK button to continue.


You only get a choice on this dialog if you’re installing the full version. Choose Next to continue.


Check the I accept the license terms box, and then the Next button to continue.


All the rest was plumbing. Now you start the SQL Server 2008 installation. Click the Install button to continue.


You’ll see this for a few minutes before you’re prompted to continue.


You should get all check marks but a lot of folks forget to open the firewall ports. If you forgot, this is what you’ll get as output. Return to the top of the post and open the required ports before continuing. When you’ve opened the ports, click the Next button to continue.


You’ll get this prompt only when you failed to open the ports before beginning the installation. Click the OK button to continue.


The Feature Selection dialog is important. You should probably make the same choices as shown if you’re deploying a development machine. That’s really all you’d want to do with SQL Server 2008 Express edition. Click the Next button to continue.


Now you accept the installation of SQLExpress as the named instance by clicking the Next button.


Now you accept the 1,446 MB space requirement by clicking the Next button.


The account name must be an authorized user account defined by the operating system or left blank. Use the built-in Network Service account for all three services listed (this account does not require a password).

In addition, remember to change the Startup Type to Automatic, for all three services. This automatically starts the SQL Server database engine, SQL Agent and SQL Browser services when the server is re-booted.

Change the Authentication Mode to Mixed Mode unless you are certain you only need Windows-only authentication.

* Many third party applications rely on SQL Server logins to operate correctly, so if you are setting up a server for a third party application, rather than one developed in-house, enabling Mixed Mode authentication is a good idea.

If you pick Mixed Mode security, you must also enter a password for the sysadmin account (sa).
Enter and confirm a secure password for the sa account and keep it somewhere safe. Do not give it to any one you do not want to have access to the SQL Server.


Click Next button to continue.

Now the install will check if everything works before attempting it with the rules you’ve entered. Click the Next button to continue.


After verifying the installation is possible, you’ll see what you’re installing before you click the third Install button to continue.


It is now time for another break while SQL Server 2008 Express edition installs.


If you arrive at the next screen, SQL Server 2008 Express is installed.


Now you’ll see the final installation dialog and the link to the installation log file.


Now the final prompt before configuration. Yes, you must now reboot the system again.


You’ve now installed SQL Server 2008 Express with Advanced Services :)

Plesk – Rebuilding qmail’s queue on RPM based servers (Queue has damage or lots of spam)

his instruction is written for RPM-based systems (RedHat, Fedora, CentOS, etc…).

Please perform the following steps to recreate Qmail`s queue.

Attention!
All current messages will be removed from the queue in this case and cannot be restored.

1. Stop Qmail and xinetd.

/etc/init.d/qmail stop
/etc/init.d/xinetd stop

2. Move current queue to another location.

mv /var/qmail/queue /var/qmail/queue_old

3 Reinstall ‘psa-qmail‘ RPM to recreate qmail queue structure with the command like:

rpm -Uvh –force psa-qmail….

4.(Optional).Reinstall drweb-qmail RPM if you use DrWeb antivirus feature which comes with Plesk.

rpm -Uvh –force drweb-qmail….

5.Start Qmail and xinetd:

/etc/init.d/qmail start
/etc/init.d/xinetd start

Note: you should get the both psa-qmail and drweb-qmail RPMs from the same Plesk version distributive that is installed on the server.
You can obtain current psa-qmail, drweb-qmail RPMs and Plesk build versions by running the following commands on Linux systems:

rpm -q psa-qmail
rpm -q drweb-qmail
rpm -q psa

How To Install Plesk Panel On CentOS Linux

Here is the guide on how to install Plesk Panel on CentOS Linux.

Pre-requisites for Linux

Clean OS installation.

You will need the drive partitioned to acceptable specifications for Plesk. The following is the recommended partitioning configuration:

/boot 100 MB
/swap 2GB
/ 10 GB
/var Rest of drive space

Step1. Installation of the Plesk control panel.

There are 2 different packages for each Linux distribution, the full installer and the auto installer. We recommend using the auto installer as it take less time to download as it will only download the packages you need.

CentOS 4.x Autoinstaller – Here

CentOS 5.x Autoinstaller – Here
CentOS 5.x 64bit Autoinstaller – Here

To download the package you will need to login to the server as root and issue the following commands (with adjustments made for the proper packaging for your distribution)

To download the Plesk installation package you will need to type (This is for CentOS 5.x 32 bit)


Once this has been downloaded, you will need to chmod the package to execute as the default permissions will not allow this: type >> chmod +x parallels_installer_v3.3.2_build080710.09_os_CentOS_5_i386 and hit >> enter


To execute the installation script do the following type >> ./parallels_installer_v3.3.2_build080710.09_os_CentOS_5_i386 and hit >>  enter


This will bring up a important notes. To move beyond this hit >> enter


The next window will be the installation sourceselection menu. Since we will be installing from the plesk server we will leave this as the default and hit >> enter


The next menu is options for a proxy if this is in use, if not you can hit >> enter for defaults.


The next menu will ask you for the desired product versions you wish to have installed. For this install we will use only plesk. To select Plesk type >> 1 and then hit >> enter.


This will bring up a sub menu that gives you the choice of what version of the plesk install you would like. By default it will go to the lowest version available.


To select the most recent version (as of this writing) Plesk 8.6.0 type >> 6 and then hit >> enter


The next menu to come up will be the installation type menu.


I would recommend using the custom menu as using the typical or full option will generally exceed the Plesk licenses we offer by default (such as exceeding licensing packs etc.) So we will type >> 3 and then hit >>enter


Below is a typical setup for a custom install that will work with a default Plesk license. You can change this to fit your requirements as needed or required by your licensing type. Once you have selected what is needed hit >>enter


The next menu is the preparation for system product installation. This menu will explain how many packages will be needed by your system and you can browse what packages are to be installed. To continue past this screen hit >> enter.


The final menu will go over available disk space to ensure your system meets the minimum requirements. To proceed past this screen hit >> enter.


The installation is now underway. Keep in mind that installation times can vary due to network latency on the Plesk installation mirrors. You will see many packages install but thereis no progress indicator. Once the process is complete a message will be displayed that says “Packages were installed successfully.”


Your Plesk for Linux control panel is now ready to use :)

Manual Plesk Installation On Windows 2003/2008

How to perform a basic Microsoft Windows Plesk installation

Pre-requisites for Windows:

Clean OS install
Ftp server such as IIS or another supported 3rd party ftp server ( see the parallels documentation for more options)
Qos packet scheduler

Default Installation on Windows 2003/2008

Step1. Installing the QOS packet scheduler

To begin Click on start >> control panel >> network connections >> public network


Then click on properties for the network connection

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Then click on Client for Microsoft networks >> Install


Then click on service >> Qos Packet scheduler >> add >> ok

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Note: You may notice a brief interruption in your terminal services connection while the Qos packet scheduler installs. Once this completes you can move on to the installation of your preferred ftp server..

Step2. Installing the default IIS Ftp server

To begin installing the default window IIS ftp server Click on start >> control panel >> Add or Remove programs >> Add/Remove windows components

Once there – Click on >> Application Server >> Details >> Internet Information Services (IIS) >> Details

This will bring up the Internet Information Services (IIS) component window. From here click the check box on >> File Transfer Protocol and then click >> ok >> ok >> next. This will begin the installation process for the ftp service. And once complete this should be all you need to begin a default Plesk installation.

Step3. Installing the Plesk Control panel

Download the Plesk installation package for windows

Plesk 8.6 Full Distribution Package – Here

Plesk 9.5.5 Full Distribution Package – Here

Plesk 10.3.1 Autoinstaller – Here

Double click on the Plesk installation package and click >> run

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

This will bring up the Plesk installation window – Click >> next


If you encounter a error message regarding the Qos packet scheduled, refer back to the Qos packet scheduler installation instructions listed above


This will bring up the plesk license agreement, if you agree click >> next


This will bring up the desired destination directories to install too, I would recommend leaving this as the defaults and clicking >> next


We recommend a typical installation unless you have other requirements. From here click on >> typical and then click on >> next


This will bring up the Plesk administrator password window, set the desired password and click >> next


This brings up the IIS work process scalability options, it is strongly recommended to check the box for “enabled on shared desktop for all w3wp “and then click >> next


This will bring up the installation confirmation window, from here you can click >> install


This will go through the installation process and once completed you will need to click >> finish


This will prompt you to restart your computer so you will need to click >> yes

 

 

 

 

 

After reboot, your windows Plesk installation should be ready to use :)

How to Install Zend Optimizer On Plesk Windows

There will be a time when you need Zend Optimizer in order to run PHP scripts encoded with Zend Optimizer. So here’s a quick guide which will tell you how to install Zend Optimizer on Plesk Windows.

1. Download the setup of Zend Optimizer from Here and save it on the server.

2. Run Setup and Click Next on first screen of the installation.

3. Accept the License and Click Next.


4. Select the installation directory as %plesk_dir%\Additional\PleskPHP5\extras to avoid permissions problems as Plesk sets deny permissions to psacln and psaserv on “Program Files”.
(where %plesk_dir% is the Plesk installation directory)


5. Select the browser as IIS.


6. Select php.ini path as %plesk_dir%\Additional\PleskPHP5\


7. Select the webroot of all the site, normally its C:\inetpub


8. Click Next and it will show information you have select for the installation of Zend Optimizer.


9. You will get a IIS warning, click on “Yes”

10. Click on install and it will start installing zend optimizer on your server.

11. Click Finish to finish the Zend Optimizer installation.

12. Check the Zend Optimizer library on the Plesk PHP path:


13. Now open php.ini for both PHP 4.x and PHP 5.x located at:

For PHP v4  : C:\WINDOWS\php.ini
For PHP v5  : %plesk_dir%\Additional\PleskPHP5\php.ini

14. Insert following lines at the end of the respective php.ini files:

For PHP 4.x

[ZEND]
zend_extension_ts = “%plesk_dir%\Additional\PleskPHP5\ext\lib\ZendExtensionManager.dll”
zend_extension_manager.optimizer_ts=”%plesk_dir%\Additional\PleskPHP5\ext\lib\Optimizer-3.3.0″

For PHP 5.x

[ZEND]
zend_extension_ts = “%plesk_dir%\Additional\PleskPHP5\extras\zend\lib\ZendExtensionManager.dll”
zend_extension_manager.optimizer_ts=”%plesk_dir%\Additional\PleskPHP5\extras\zend\lib\Optimizer-3.3.0″

Please make sure to change “%plesk_dir%\” with the actual path on the server

15. Restarted IIS:

16. You can check Zend Optimizer library in the phpinfo page on your website:
Create a file info.php and check for “Zend Optimizer” section.

How to Install IonCube Loader On Plesk Windows

There will be a time when you need IonCube loader in order to run PHP scripts encoded with IonCube. So here’s a quick guide which will tell you how to install IonCube Loader on Plesk Windows

1. Download MSI installer of IonCube Loader from HERE.

Notes: x86/ppc/sparc packages are for 32 bit systems; x86-64/ppc64 packages are for 64 bit systems. The Windows non-TS Loaders are for use on a Windows system where a phpinfo page shows that PHP is built with thread safety disabled.

2. Run the Setup and Click Next on first screen.

3. Select “Install to this machine”

4. Select the installation directory as %plesk_dir%\Additional\PleskPHP5\extras to avoid permissions problems as Plesk sets deny permissions to psacln and psaserv on “Program Files”.
(where %plesk_dir% is the Plesk installation directory)


5. Click Next and the installation will show the information you have select.


6. Click on install and it will start installing IonCube Loader on your server.


7. Click Finish to finish the IonCube Loader installation.


8. Check if the IonCube libraries are saved on the Plesk PHP path.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

9. Now open php.ini for both PHP 4.x and PHP 5.x located to insert the path to IonCube Loader’s Library.

For PHP v4  : C:\WINDOWS\php.ini
For PHP v5  : %plesk_dir%\Additional\PleskPHP5\php.ini

10. Insert following link at the end of the respective php.ini files:
For PHP 4.x

[ZEND]
zend_extension_ts = %plesk_dir%\Additional\Php\extensions\ioncube\ioncube_loader_win_4.x.dll

For PHP 5.x

[ZEND]
zend_extension_ts = %plesk_dir%\Additional\Php\extensions\ioncube\ioncube_loader_win_5.x.dll

11. Please make sure that you select the correct versions of PHP in the file name.

make sure that you replace %plesk_dir%\ with the path on the server.

12. Restarted IIS:
